Class Descriptions for Career Development
Every student in our high school program typically receives career development instruction every school year. The course content usually rotates on a 4-year cycle based on student needs. The course rotation addresses the following skill areas and topics, all of which relate to PA's Career Education and Work Standards. In addition, these skills and topics are taught using direct instruction, and are supported by research and professional organizations such as the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) as meaningful and effective:
Career Development (I)
Career Development (II)
Career Development (III)
Career Development (IV)
Please note:
- The course activities are tailored to our students' transition plans, IEP goals, strengths, and needs, as well as input from IEP team members
- The course objectives are therefore flexible and always evolving, which allows for greater individualization while still addressing the Pennsylvania State Standards for Career Education and Work.
